Online tutoring

Tutoring students online is one option when thinking about working from home. There are many web sites which either hire tutors or let tutors promote their services. Each site differs in their requirements. I have tried to sort out the below links, starting from the ones which need the least qualifications right up to the hardest ones. Many of the opportunities are available to any country in the world.

No qualifications needed:
idapted.com – English Language Tutors. You can choose your own hours, experience or qualifications are not a must.
Requirements:
English must be your first language.
You must fill out an application form through which they judge how suitable you are.
They provide training if they feel you qualify.
US only excluding Hawaii and Alaska

Kasamba

You can sell your knowledge on just about any topic here. Tutoring is just the beginning. You can give advice, do psychic readings, anything you are interested really. – Worldwide

Gamer Trainer Teach people how to get better at online games like Halo, WoW and others. I don’t think they hire many people just yet but if you are passionate abut online games it’s something to keep an eye on. Any country

BuddySchool.com – Teach any subject including non academic ones. This is more like running your own business since you have to win your clients yourself by participating in the marketplace at their site. You get to set your own payment level, hours, form of teaching and more with this online tutoring platform. You can start immediately. – Available worldwide

eduFire.com – Teach any language (including English) via webcam. Another self promoted one with immediate start and no qualification needed. Available WorldWide

TalkBean – Teach using a webcam and microphone. Like the two above you need to find your own students.

Limu – Much like the above three but with some differences. Make sure to read their information as to exactly how it works.

Universal Class – Non academic subjects can be taught here without certifications as long as you are experienced in the subject. Academic subjects need qualifications.

Unsure if / what qualifications are needed

Smarthinking – Hires on a regular basis, but the peak season for hiring is May-August and November-December every year. They cover a wide range of subjects.
Requirements
They offer training but don’t mention what sort of qualification you need to have in order to apply.
Available worldwide but you must have a US bank account

CREATING CAREERS
You can apply to teach Employment skills, Entrepreneurship, Sports coaching or IT skills. They provide training. As far as I can tell it’s UK only

Qualifications needed:
Aim4a.com – A company that provides online tutoring opportunities. Elementary, Middle, High School, and College Level, Math, Science, English Language Arts, or any other academic subject.
Requirements:
A minimum of bachelors degree in the subjects you would like to teach
Some teaching experience
AVAILABLE WORLD WIDE

Homeworktutoring.com – Seeking tutors to provide homework Help in Engineering, History and Law but are also seeking tutors with experience teaching in subjects that they do not currently offer. Possibly US only but not certain

Educate-Online.com – Online tutoring for students in grades K-12.
Requirements:

Current teaching certification.
Ability to pass a background check, fingerprints and drug test
US Only

GlobalScholar – School subjects from K-12, exams and collage. Students can ask questions or take full classes.
Requirements:

In addition to a 4 year degree, potential GlobalScholar teachers must pass a criminal background check.

MyElitetutor
Homework or school work help and tutoring.
Requirements:
You are eligible if:
You are a faculty at a US university or college
or you hold a PHD or Law degree
or
You are working on or have completed any degree from an Ivy League caliber university

OnlineLearning.net – Instructor-led continuing adult education.
Requirements:
Varies by departments, but providers require a terminal degree, and professional experience and/or some teaching experience in the subject area or related field are a plus. US only

Tutor.com – Provides 24/7 online tutoring. You can choose to tutor from as little as five hours a week up to 30 hours a week. Maths and science mainly.
Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled in or have graduated from an accredited US or Canadian College or University degree program.
US and Canada only

Tutornet.ws – Maths and sciences for Elementary, middle and high school as well as university.
Certifications and backgrounds checks required.
US only

TutorVista.com -  English, Math and Science across K-12.
Requirements:
Be a post graduate in your subject.
Work for minimum 4 hours a day.
Available worldwide

Kidspan If you are interested you need to fill out their online form. Available to all countries

HOMEWORK HELP – Here you can set your own fee to help students with their homework. Must be a certified teacher. Possibly US only

Virtual University – Write a course that they are looking for and be paid $200 if it gets accepted.

Physics247 Homework help in physics
Requirements:
Bachelors degree and training experience required.
Looks like US only but not certain

Bilingualamerica
Requirements:
You must be a native Spanish or English speaker and have 80% skills in Spanish or English as your second language.
Any 4 year degree is ok. Training is provided.
Available only to Georgia or Florida residents.
