This is one of the strangest ways to make money on the internet. The concept is simple. You will spend about an hour listening to a trial, and afterwards, you will give your feedback on what you thought of the trial. After that you can get paid. Mock trials can be a good way to slightly increase the size of your pocketbook, but not get to get rich.

Why Do Mock Trials Exist?
Mock trials provide lawyers with the opportunity to test their argument against a jury of real people before the trial starts. This way they can determine what works and what needs improvement. The lawyers that partake in these programs spend thousands of dollars to get your opinion, so it is important to take it seriously. If the lawyers are unsatisfied with these sites, they will cease to exist. If the sites don’t exist, they can’t pay you.

How Much Can You Make?
You won’t get rich by participating in mock trials. You will only earn around thirty and sixty dollars per trial and, depending on how many sites you join, you will only get a trial every couple of months. It is a nice way to supplement your income, but you can’t make a living from it. If you want to make more money, you should join several of these sites. This way you can increase the amount of trials you can participate in.
For thirty to sixty dollars per hour, signing up for several of these programs is definitely worth it. You can earn enough to go out to dinner once per month or pay your cable bill. If you are willing to spend an hour listening to a lawyer’s case, mock trials are worth signing up for.

Here is something for you if you like to spend time on FaceBook. It is an application called ClowdCrowd. It allows you to choose from a few available jobs which include things like editing text or categorizing products (much like Amazon’s Mturk). You won’t get rich doing this as most jobs pay just a dollar or two but if much of your day is spent checking Facebook messages anyway, then this is something worth looking into. Seemile is a new education marketplace where you can upload voice or video files of your lectures. You can set your own price and upon anyone purchasing it you will get paid, minus some commission which is kept by the site.
The site is still very new and obviously this is not an opportunity that will appeal to everyone but if you are able to teach a topic it could be worth giving the site a try.

Bukisa – A new revenue share site with extra benefits

Bukisa is a new site where you can share your knowledge and get paid. Although there is nothing new or revolutionary about this (I have a list of similar sites in other posts) Bukisa has an extra feature with lots of potential. You can refer users and create a network. A user that owns a network will not only enjoy the revenue sharing of their work, but will also profit from their network friends’ revenue sharing. A little bit like network marketing – the more people you refer the more money you can make.
The only problem at the moment is that as far as I can tell you can only invite people by email, not through a referral link. Which kind of limits your earning potential, or at least makes it a lot less automated. Hopefully they will introduce affiliate links in the future.

I have written about making money on Twitter before and now here is another company offering Twitter users a way to monetize their Tweets. The company is called Magpies and they blend ads into your message stream: 5 tweets to one ad. There is a #magpies marker at the beginning of sponsored messages.

I am already seeing a few of the people I follow using this so I am wondering if it will take off. It remains to be seen if people sending out ads in their tweets will retain their followers. I can see people going overboard and tweeting non stop in order to get more sponsored ads in. Useless non stop tweets makes me un-follow a person immediately. But perhaps used in moderation this could be a way to make a few extra dollars.

Intention Based Shipping or peer to peer shipping is a fairly new concept, a new way of shipping anything from letters to furniture. Basically how it works is: if you are traveling anywhere in your car or truck there is usually some free space in your boot or back seat. Fill that space up with a few things that need to be delivered to the location you are heading to and earn a few extra dollars.

This type of service saves money for people who need items shipped and earn the person doing the shipping some extra cash. It can also save money when going overseas since there are people looking to transport items from one country to another also (with caution obviously).

Uship is probably the best known US marketplace where people bid in Ebay style on shipments (this is mainly for bigger things such as cars, boats, housemoving etc).
Citizenshipper is a newer, also US based site which will hopefully grow and is geared more towards more local, smaller deliveries.
Dubai has a site also geared towards the Arab world at Darrb.com.

Hopefully this idea will grow in time and be available in more countries.

I came across Twittad.com the other day which is a site where people can sell advertising space on their Twitter profile pages. Some of the people selling ad space have as little as 20 followers so there doesn’t seem to be minimum. While I saw one ad that was charging $1000 for 7 days of advertising (!), the average price seems to be around the $10-$20/month range.

It seems to be mainly IT jobs so if you work in the IT field or know someone who does, this might be an opportunity for you. With many of the finder’s fees being close to the $2,000 mark per job it is definitely worth a try.
