Online tutoring

Tutoring students online is one option when thinking about working from home. There are many web sites which either hire tutors or let tutors promote their services. Each site differs in their requirements. I have tried to sort out the below links, starting from the ones which need the least qualifications right up to the hardest ones. Many of the opportunities are available to any country in the world.

Working at home with a baby

At Home Mom blog has a great post today on how to still get work done when you have a baby with you at home. There is some pretty handy advice there (I know I’ve been there) and it’s even broken down into age groups ie. working with a 0-3 months old etc. If you are expecting a baby and are wondering whether you will still be able to work from home, it is a good read.

Profit by keeping an eye on Ebay trends

Last week I was reminded how easily money can be made on Ebay by simply keeping an eye on what is selling in your favourite categories.
Around the time the Olympics began, McDonalds started offering BeiBei, the blue Olympic mascot as their promotional toy for the week (followed by all the other mascots in the following weeks). The toys cost $2 each or free with a Happy Meal.

This is how much BeiBei was selling for on Ebay within two weeks of McDonalds selling out. Read more…

Social Lending – what is it and how to profit from it

Social lending on the internet (or peer to peer lending) is people lending and borrowing money from each other and a web site acting as a go between, managing all the administrative hassles of repayment, interest rates etc. You simply deposit your chosen amount to use for lending and earn interest. As well as making a return you are also helping out people who need it.

You can invest as little as $25 on some sites. Think of it as Read more…

Make money creating shoe art and custom t-shirts

Customized shoes and clothes are pretty big at the moment. There are places online where you can put your skills to the test and create custom artwork on clothes which you can then sell. You don’t need to be a professional artist, clever composition of patterns, shapes and colours can go a long way on a design. Below are a couple of sites to get you started.

Zazzle is probably the best known one, here you can create custom art for t-shirts, cards other things too as well as shoes. You can then promote your products in your own gallery, vote for your favourites and use other social network-like features. This is the link to their custom shoe designs.

Make your own custom t-shirts online at ShirtMagic and open a store at their site to sell your creations.

At CafePress you can upload your artwork, open a store on their site and sell the custom merchandise.

Threadless is more like an ongoing competition where if they like your t-shirt design idea you get $2,500.

At Ryzwear there is a competition to design shoes until the 10th of September 2008, users will vote on it and you can win $1000 + $1 for each shoe they sell (which could be a lot!)

Here’s a new one, still in beta: Sneakart.com Here you can create custom stickers to put on sneakers. If you choose to sell your designs you can earn a commission on each sale.

Find what sells with Checkout Trends

Google Checkout Trends is a tool that displays the sales data generated by Google Checkout merchants. It can be used to get a general idea of how well certain products are selling. You can compare two products, for example here is a comparison of sales for the Xbox, Playstation and wii, or you can see how well sales are doing over a period of time. It won’t give you perfect guidance as to what sells best since not every merchant uses Google Checkout but as a quick (and free) tool it can give you a general idea as to what is going on in the world of ecommerce.
